The first edition was originally published as a dissertation for completion of a PhD in music at West Virginia University in 1973. The original title was Symmetry as a Determinant of Musical Composition . This new edition preserves the original ideas and adds some new materials and discoveries. The New Transformations names have been transposed so that the Quadrate Prime (QP) is the form that reflects around an ascending diagonal, thereby switching time and pitch axes. This makes the Quadrates more consistent with their own transformations and with the Prime form. Mathematical descriptions of these forms have been added.

The purpose of the six-semester licentiate program is to help the student become acquainted with the whole corpus of church law, understand it in terms of its theological, philosophical, and historical background, and learn the method and practice of scientific research. The level of research for the licentiate is that expected of professional canonists, specifically the exacting investigation of canonical questions encountered in curial, tribunal, and similar practice, and the articulation of one's findings in written opinions and briefs.

The Licentiate of Engineering is an intermediate postgraduate degree used only in a few countries, among them Sweden and Finland, and can be seen as an academic step halfway between a Master's and a PhD. In Swedish, it is called Teknologie Licentiat , usually abbreviated as Tekn. Lic. , and in Finnish, tekniikan lisensiaatti , abbreviated as TkL . The Licentiate of Engineering corresponds to 120 ECTS credits (80 workweeks (old credits)), or nominally two years of full-time work, whereas a PhD amounts to 240 ECTS credits (160 workweeks (old credits)), or a nominal period of four years of full-time work (one old credit equals one week of full-time studies). However, as a result of the differences in requirements and individual performance, the time to complete a Licentiate of Engineering degree varies. For the thesis, 2–3 peer-refereed articles (or an equivalent monograph) is usually required, and there is no requirement for original research per se . In contrast, a doctoral thesis requires 4–6 articles and must demonstrate original research.

Actually the Canon looks like its got some serious noise reduction going on in the background. The image of her skin looks a little plastic like to my eyes. If I ever need to shoot above iso 4000, then I will consider the Canon 5D mark 3 , but most of my shoots top off at the iso 800 range, occasionally ISO 1200 (dynamic range takes a serious hit the higher you go, look at the color of the eyes on both cameras as you go higher). Image quality with a wide dynamic range is what I am looking for, hence the preference for a lower ISO when shooting. Clean HDMI output is a serious consideration as well. To me, the Nikon is the preferable camera. On a different note, that Blackmagic camera that was released at NAB looks enticing. 13 stops of dynamic range with higher resoulution…I will watch it carefully.
